Junior Math Club
Junior Math Club allows us to extend class lessons by using games and activities to explore math concepts more deeply. We use dice, playing cards, Bingo games, pattern and attribute blocks, geo-boards, toothpicks, pumpkins, tangrams, scales, money, base ten blocks, and much more, to explore fractions, measurement, regrouping, multiplication, logic, probability, patterns, symmetry, and geometry.
Students in grade 2 and 3 participate in Junior Math Club. Younger students are paired with older students for many of the games and activities; this gives them a chance to challenge themselves and the older children a chance to be the experts.
Junior Math Club is held after school on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30 to 3:30. There are 2 ten-week sessions. Enrollment is limited to 20 students for each session.

Junior Great Book Club
Junior Great Books is a club of interpretive reading, writing, and discussion. Members explore outstanding literary stories. During meetings each story is read twice with activities to help students pose questions, share opinions and ideas. The major discussion of each story is the Shared Inquiry Discussion in which the teacher asks a question based on the reading with no right or wrong answer. Members must use story facts to answer the questions. They share their answers and discuss story.

Dance Club
Dancing Like the Stars
Based on the hit television show, “Dancing With the Stars”, where celebrities are paired with professional dancers to learn new styles of dance each week, this club is for students who wish to learn more about dance. Unlike a class at a dance studio, dancers are not tied down to one style of dancing. Each week, students are introduced to a new style of dance, learning the terminology for the steps, the history and attitude of the dance, and a short combination to music. Basic dance rhythms and formations are learned as students stretch and strengthen muscles and practice their new moves in a traditional dance class format. Some of the styles learned include hip hop, jazz, musical theater, stepping, cha cha, jive, and contemporary. Students in grades three through six are eligible to participate in this club and share what they have learned in a short performance.

Student Council
Immaculate Conception is proud to have an active Student Council. Student Council consists of students in grades 6 to 8. The Student Council consists of dynamic, enthusiastic, and committed middle schoolers. Student Council helps build character, leadership, decision making, organization skills, and responsibility.
Its purpose is to enhance the high rating and honor of our school and to represent the students’ interests in the function of our school. It meets once a month on Tuesdays after school in Mrs. Kelly’s classroom to conduct business, plan, and enjoy being together. The Council sponsors three middle school dances, bake sales, and dress down days. Some of the charitable contributions they conduct are a can drive, clothing drive, The Giving Tree Outreach Program, Christmas presents for our missionary family, and a cell phone recycling drive.

Art Club
The I.C. After School Art Club is open to qualified students in grades 3-6. These students meet with rotating faculty from the art department for 90 minutes on Thursdays. In Fall 2009, an 8-week session was offered by Lisa Franklin, I.C.'s kindergarten art instructor. Ms. Franklin, a full-time student at Boston University's College of Fine Arts, worked with a gifted group of young artists on projects ranging from sculpture and wood crafts to oil pastel drawing and painting with acrylics. Their creations will be on exhibit at the annual I.C. Spring Art Fair held in Father Brennan Hall.
Future Art Club sessions of various lengths will be offered after the Christmas vacation.
