Christmas Pagent 2011
This year our Christmas Pageant takes place in a little town way out west called Bethlehem. Join Eden (who shares her birthday with Christmas) as she discovers the true meaning of this special day.
With classic carols and modern songs, the Immaculate Conception Christmas Pageant will showcase our students' hard work and voices as well as, of course, the Nativity! This show will be presented in the Fr. Brennan Hall on December 22, 2011 at 1:15pm.

Field Day
The highlight of the physical education program at I.C. is Field Day. The entire student body, with the assistance of a Revere Police escort, travels from school to Harry Dello Russo Field to participate in a variety of athletic competitions. Each class wears a different color bright T-shirt which is donated by local businesses. PICS, our parent group, which organizes this event, supplies lunch, slush, and face painting.

Canned Food Drive
Student Council recently completed its annual Canned Food Drive. The results were amazing - our students contributed 1083 cans and boxes of prepared foods!!! These young people truly have the Christian spirit of reaching out to others. Whatever parents are doing at home is making an impact on them.
Our school contributions were sent to the Parish food pantry to assist in making the Thanksgiving baskets that are distributed from our Church for this holiday each year.
As a reward (And virtue is its own reward!) the I.C. students were treated to a free dress down day on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Cultural Enrichment
The STARLAB portable planetarium from the Museum of Science brought a dark, cloudless night to I.C.during the daytime. The program presented a realistic model of the night sky over our school on the date of the visit. With the addition of video images and simulations, students got an up-close look at some of the most distant objects that can be seen from earth.
They also discovered how the relationships between the Earth, Moon and Sun cause the phases of the Moon as well as solar and lunar eclipses. The budding astronomers observed the plane of our galaxy, the Milky Way in the model sky and learned why it looks the way it does.

On October 24th students at the Immaculate Conception School, Revere were treated to a visit from children's book author /illustrator David Biedrzycki.
He thoroughly enjoyed presenting to grades 2nd through 8th. Students were given a first hand experience regarding his creative and writing process. David creates all his art on computer and students were given a computer drawing demonstration. An author and illustrator of over 16 children's books, David travels extensively throughout the United States and abroad to over 70 schools a year. You can visit his website at: www.davidbiedrzycki.com.

Greek Civilization
The sixth grade is currently studying Ancient Greece as part of their Ancient Civilizations curriculum. On March 27th the sixth grade held an Ancient Greek festival where each student, dressed in costume, presented herself or himself as an ancient Greek god or goddess. Students played the parts of such gods as Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, and Ares, among others. Sixth graders read Ancient Greek myths and learned the importance of worshipping such gods in the daily life of the Greeks. The festival also included Greek foods. It was a fun and educational experience for the students!
